MEDGroup Provides T-8V Medical Examinations
to Area School Districts
In the fall of 2001, the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) implemented rules regarding the use of vehicles other than school buses for pupil transportation. School districts now may, in their discretion, use vans (i.e. vehicles other than school buses designed by the manufacturer to transport 9 passengers or less) for the transportation of pupils when they determine that they cannot reasonably provide school bus transportation.
With the implemented rules, drivers of motor vans owned and operated by any school district, or privately owned and operated under contract with any school district or service center, must have a certificate from the district certifying that the person, among other criteria, is qualified physically for the position, as determined by rule 3301-83-07 of the administrative code.
The ODE has implemented the use of the Van Driver Medical Examination Form (T-8V Form), which can be downloaded from the ODE website at www.ode.state.oh.us. The downloaded form is a useable format, as the originals do not need to come from the ODE directly as with the T-8 Examination Forms. The medical evaluation includes a medical history, physician examination, audiogram (hearing test), vision screen, and tuberculosis testing (if necessary).
If you would like more information about how MEDGroup can assist you with the required T-8V Medical Examinations, please contact our Sales and Marketing Department at (800) 642-1007, extension 153.
