Frequently Asked Questions

- Urgent Care Questions-

Do I need an appointment?

No, you do not need an appointment. We understand that, often times, you are unable to secure an appointment with your personal or family physician when an injury or illness suddenly strikes, and using a MEDGroup center is a practical alternative in such situations.

What are the advantages of using MEDGroup versus a hospital emergency room?

MEDGroup is a perfect alternative to an emergency room for medical problems that are not life threatening but need immediate attention. Unlike most emergency room visits, an urgent care center insures professional and personal care can be administered quickly, even without an appointment.

Do I need a referral to see a MEDGroup physician?

In most instances, you will not need a referral to see a MEDGroup physician. Depending on your health insurance coverage, you may need a referral from your Primary Care Physician (PCP) prior to being seen by a MEDGroup physician. It is important that, if a referral is required, you obtain it from your PCP prior to receiving treatment at MEDGroup.

Please contact your insurance company to find out if you need a referral. If a referral is required, your PCP will then need to be notified so they can provide the appropriate paperwork to your insurance company.

What if MEDGroup does not participate with my health insurance provider?

Your health insurance provider likely offers out-of-network benefits, which may be comparable to your network benefits. If MEDGroup does not participate with your health insurance provider, payment is required at time of service. We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, cash or personal check. We will provide you with an itemized statement, upon request, that you may use to file a claim with your insurance provider. You will receive notification from your health insurance provider advising you of how they processed your claim.
